Biotic (Bio-circular Ltd)

Biotic (Bio-circular Ltd), is an Israeli start-up that is commercialising a fully bio-based and fully bio-degradable polymer.  Biotic was founded in 2020 by Adi Goldman (CEO), Nofar Hod (CTO) and Eran Perlstein (COO) – all passionate about creating a sustainable society where plastic pollution is not a concern! 

 

Biotic are commercialising technologies researched in Tel Aviv University.  Their product is a unique biological polymer in the PHA family (polyhydroxyalkanoates), produced from naturally grown algae.  The algae is ocean grown, so no arable land is used and sea-water, rather than treated water is also used in the process, minimising resources used.  The resulting polymer is fully biodegradable and does not need to be recycled.

 

Biotic was selected as one of the top global start-ups to pitch in the StartSG Slingshot 2020 competition.   They are also currently working with a global food manufacturer on a sustainable food packaging project.

 

Towards the end of 2022, Biotic closed a seed investment round of around €2M! The investment led by Paseo Rosales was joined by rockstart, UM6P Ventures, TenNine.vc, The Yield Lab Asia Pacific, Norfolk Green Venture, and Cambridge Agritech, in addition to angel investors. The funding will be used to establish our pilot facility, grow our team, scale up polymers production, and accelerate our progress with strategic and corporate partners to introduce our first polymers to market.
